Wynyard is a small town on the North West coast of Tasmania and has a population of around 4,000.
The Wynyard Yacht Club Inc. (WYC) is an amalgamation of the Inglis Yacht Club and Wynyard Yacht Club.
The Wynyard Yacht Club Clubhouse, Wharf and Slip are situated near the mouth of the Inglis River, which opens onto Bass Strait. The wharf is an integral part of Wynyard's main street all facilities are in easy walking access to motel, hotels, laundromat, sail maker, supermarket, post office, medical help, public transport and airport.
The club is well established with 70 - 80 members, sailing craft range from Sabots, B14, Sabres, TS16, Castles, 420, Cats, Clubman, Lidgard, Cruising keelboats with a small commercial and recreational fishing fleet.
The club has won the State Award for Excellence in its management of volunteers, and a similar award for its safety systems. The club has conducted many state titles and National Championships, Cherubs twice and 470's once. It secured the Australian TS16 National Championships ran from December 28th 2006 until January 7th 2007.
The Wynyard Yacht Club conducts sailing training for juniors and regular races for juniors and seniors throughout the summer.
The Clubhouse has showers, toilets and kitchen facilities as well as an upstairs meeting hall with chairs and tables. Patrol boats and sailing equipment are stored downstairs.
Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of every month in the Clubhouse at 8 p.m
